Experienced instructors provide guidance for introductory and maiden flights and
skill development. This occurs every Tuesday evening during daylight savings time,
weather permitting.
About Us
Hawks RC, also known as the Hamilton Area Wireless Kontrol Society, is a radio-controlled model aircraft club located at 214 Joe Nuxhall Way (often cited as 252 Joe Nuxhall Way) in Hamilton, Ohio. The club operates on a 17-acre facility shared with the City of Hamilton Waste Water Treatment Department, featuring a 550' by 30' paved runway, pit tables, a clubhouse, and other amenities for flying model airplanes, helicopters, and drones.
The club is AMA sanctioned and offers flight training with knowledgeable instructors, making it accessible for beginners. A key feature of the facility is its FRIA (Part 107 Waiver) approval from the FAA, which allows for specific drone operations. Membership involves a $50 annual fee that helps support the maintenance of the airfield and facilities. We offer friendly people and the value of free flight training particularly on Tuesday evenings.
The club originally started in Joyce Park in 1977 before moving to its current location in 2005. Operations are governed by AMA rules and City of Hamilton regulations. This official website is hawksrc.org, which provides information on membership, events, and club news.
Please note: The city of Hamilton requires the field entrance to be gated when no one is present. Usually there are pilots there every day and the field entrance is open. YOUR VISIT IS WELCOME. To insure the gate is open for your arrival, feel free to reach out to us on the contact page.
